Killing Duncan with Spoil Victor can be done with any profession although a Necro will always be faster. Never overestimate the openmindedness of a PuG.

I had an interesting situation the other day. My Ritualist was having a difficult time getting into a group to kill Duncan. With hope I returned to Umberal Grotto and begin advertising myself as a Spoil Victor Necrosis Ritualist. (Keep in mind that the same groups that were LF SV/SoS earlier were still looking for one.) I was denied several groups and as usual called a noob for not having SoS and being a Ritualist and NOT a Necromancer with SV/SoS.

My build was the following
Channeling 16
Blood 12
Spawning 4

Blood Song
PvE Vamperism
Painful Bond
PvE Summon Spirits
Spoil Victor (Hex Spell 95 damage at 14, 85 without AtB)
PvE Necrosis (90 damage if hexed or under a condition)
Awaken the Blood
Flesh of my Flesh (Res)

Eventually someone did pick me up.
We ran in and worked our way to Duncan as usual, killed Duncan with ease (the warrior did not have to die) got the treasure in about 15-20 minutes then returned only to see the same groups.

"GLF SV/SoS for Duncan."

Yes the same groups that denied me admittance before (called me a noob etc) were still anal about allowing someone else (non Necro’s) running SV for Duncan. Because they said it was faster to go with a Necro … who does an average of 20 more damage than other classes.

What does this teach you?
1) You do not have to be a Necromancer primary to kill Duncan with SV. Assassins, or any other spell casting class can run SV at 12 and still be formidable. Any profession is fine as long as they get the spell on him with Blood at 12 with an alternate way of damaging him once his health is below 500 hit points.
2) Time is money and in the defense of time, sometimes as a PUG you need to improvise to get the job done. Duncan is not that hard and having another class even a Dervish can provide a good alternative to a necromancer for killing Duncan.
3) Necromancers are not the end all be all for killing Bosses with SV/ SoS, the damage of Necrosis is high enough that anyone can run it without Being a necromancer primary.

Now here is what I want to discuss.
1) What other options are good for killing Duncan, if there is no SV/SoS currently available?
2) Should you wait for a SV/SoS Necro?
3) How long should you wait until you find a SV/SoS Necro if you chose to wait for one?
4) Are you willing to take someone like my Ritualist with SV/Necrosis or even a Dervish with, SV/Necrosis? If not Why Not, please explain?
5) What about a Paragon or an extra Warrior with Ursan or Volfen Blessing at Norn Rank 5 if there is no SV currently available that day?

Perhaps you should go Rt/R FS Splinter Barrager and you have better luck finding a group.

Alas if it were only as easy as tossing on FS, SW and Barrage. The majority of the PUG's I've seen at Umbral are stuck in the "I read it on wiki, therefore these are the only necro/monk/ele/ranger builds that work" mindset and use the "do not bother applying" excuse with Rits, Paras and Dervs. It's sad, but not nearly as sad as being required to hear some of their prepubescent whining and complaining on vent.
